Weight loss = back problems?

Ok, so my Mom lost 23 and 3/4 pounds in 3 - 4 weeks. She started running, going to the gym. She never did any of this before. Never had any back problems before she started losing 'big' amounts of weight. I know this may sound like a stupid question, but i'm just curious. :P Do you just think it is because of all the running, going to gym etc.. ?

This is NOT a stupid question. However, she probably didn't follow proper form of the routines, which is pretty common for people trying to lose weight without a trainer or not paying much attention to correct form. Now that she's injured her back, the only thing she can do about it is find routines that'll make her back strong, so bad form has less impact on her back.
