Answer on Americans: Do you feel vacations to Europe (italy, france, spain) are worth the price?
I now live in eastern Europe but years ago my husband, son and I did just a 10 day or so trip to western Europe before going on the visit family in eastern Europe.
It was in 1986 and although I saw many really nice places, it cost a small fortune,I couldn't afford to do that again.
We spent 3 days in Paris in a ok hotel,private bath but only one double bed for 3 people, they wouldn't give us a cot for our 12 year old son, very uncomfortable and it wasn't a cheap room either. We spent about $200. within the first hour we arrived in Paris, just on taxi fare and a light meal.
All of the road tolls etc. were extreme. I believe we spent about $4,000 extra for the 10 days of touring the western part of Europe. France, Germany, Italy are the three countries we spent the most time in and the most money.
I cannot afford to go back to visit these places right now although I am living just a day car ride away.
I don't feel I really got our monies worth.
