Weight Loss Help for a Teen?

I am 14, and while I am not obsessed with my weight, I was just fooling around on the computer and I found a sight that found what your ideal weight is about... and mine said 117 pounds... well, i am 165 pounds, 48 pounds overweight. And, I was just wondering, I would kind of like to be about 117 pounds by summer, so I have a realistic amount of time to loose the weight by. What are healthy, semi-challenging ways to lose the weight, that would help me meet my goal by summer?

Thanks in advance!!

The site you might have found might be inaccurate, depending on the actual website. Even if the website was right, you might not want to lose that much weight that quickly. If I were you, I'd set up a bunch of mini-goals that will be a little easier to reach (like 15 pounds by New Year's Day, etc).

Try drinking more water and less soda (or switch to diet pop), eating smaller portions (like instead of having two bowls of cereal in the morning, try having one serving and measuring the cereal using a measuring cup), and exercising more. It can be as easy as taking a walk every day to a friend's house or to a coffee shop near your house, or as difficult as training for a marathon. Whatever suits you best will make you the happiest, and you won't be as reluctant to exercise if it makes you happy to do it.

Joining a sport might help, but if that doesn't sound like something you'd want to do, you could maybe find a nearby swimming pool and swim for a while each week or go rollerskating in a park for fun.

It can be easier than you think if you lose weight the right way :)
As long you aren't limiting yourself too much and are keeping up with exercise, I think you'll be fine. If you find yourself wanting a chocolate bar, don't be afraid to give in as long as it's a one-time thing! And if you know someone who might want to lose weight with you, you could ask to see if they wouldn't mind losing weight with you. It's a lot better to have someone with you along for the ride who can encourage you to keep going and help you when you aren't doing too well than to do it on your own.

I hope that helps! Good luck with the weight loss!
